I was invited to speak at a symposium (via Zoom) to commemorate the discovery of insulin. I focussed on the role of J.B. Collip in the insulin work and his contribution to the flourishing of endocrine research at McGill in the 1930s and 40s.
June 16, 2021 – Alberta Diabetes Institute
I participated in the ADI 100 Years of Insulin Celebration, a half-day seminar (online) that combined science and story-telling to celebrate the discovery of insulin. My talk was entitled “Extracts and enterprise: J. B. Collip, insulin’s forgotten man.” I examined the connection of Collip’s experiences at the University of Alberta to his contributions to the insulin research. Event information
