NYC LGBT Historic Sites Project

I was delighted to make a presentation about Wondrous Transformations and Harry Benjamin in a virtual event hosted by NYC LGBT Historic Sites Project, a nonprofit cultural initiative and educational resource that makes an invisible history visible by documenting historic and cultural sites associated with the LGBT community in New York City. Harry Benjamin is the first ally to be featured on the site.

The evening was hosted by Ken Lustbader, co-director of the project, who presented some of the historic places in New York City that are connected to trans history. We were especially honoured by the participation of Susan Stryker whose research, writing, and activism are so foundational to the study of trans history. Susan gave a generous introduction that framed the story of Benjamin within broader trans history.
