I am honoured to be part of a Canadian delegation to Aberdeen to dedicate a set of bronze plates at Macleod’s Corner in Duthie Park commemorating the “Toronto Four” — Banting, Best, Collip and Macleod, the co-discoverers of insulin. The plates are sand-cast bronze and designed by the sculptor John McKenna. They will be placed on the World Insulin Wall behind the statue of JJR Macleod.
I will speak on Collip’s contribution at a mini-symposium on Friday, September 6. The other speakers are John Dirks, Gary Goldberg, Peter Kopplin, Erling Norrby, Christopher Rutty, and James R Wright. Thank you to our hosts John Otto and Kimberlie Hamilton and the JJR Macleod Memorial Statue Society. This event will be open the public.
