It was a great honour to be part of a delegation from Canada and Sweden to Aberdeen, Scotland to participate in a symposium and celebration of the co-discoverers of insulin: Frederick Banting, Charles Best, James Bertram Collip and John James Rickard Macleod. On September 6, our party helped to unveil a set of plaques honouring the “Toronto Four” at the site of the JJR Macleod Memorial Statue in Duthie Park, Aberdeen.

Special highlights included having dinner at Bieldside, the former home of JJR Macleod and visits to sites along the “Insulin Trail” that were important in Macleod’s life.
